Francesa Says He'll Give 'Serious Consideration' To Barstool Sports Pizza Review Invite

By WFAN Sports Radio 101.9 FM/66AM New York

Mike Francesa is softening his stand about not appearing on one of Barstool Sports' popular pizza reviews.

Francesa initially shot down Barstool founder Dave Portnoy's invitation when he called into "Mike's On" on Monday. But by the end of the interview, Mike had left the door open.

"Call me again," he told Portnoy. "We'll discuss it. Send me an invitation. Maybe I'll reconsider. But I really don't think the audience cares what pizza I eat."

By Tuesday, however, Francesa tweeted that he will give the invitation "serious consideration" and that he'd have to compare summer schedules with Portnoy.

I will give the pizza invite serious  consideration. Dave and I will have to compare our summer schedules.

Portnoy quickly took to Twitter to say scheduling won't be a problem on his end.

I’m gonna have my entire team clear my entire schedule.  I’ve also heard through a mutual recovery drink friend that Saratoga may be a spot we both frequent during the summer months.

Judging by another Francesa tweet earlier in the day, it appeared some fans have tried to persuade him to accept the offer.

Thanks for all the messages and pleas I have received about Dave Portnoy’s pizza invite.

Mike at first said he had "no interest" and that pizza isn't really a passion of his.

"Do you want to discuss everything you eat on the air?" Francesa asked Portnoy on Monday.

Portnoy replied, "Millions of people would die to know what you think is good pizza."

El Presidente, as he's known on Barstool, called pizza "the universal language of love."

He said he'll be relentless in his pursuit of Francesa.
