The Devils have acquired Russian star winger Nikita Gusev in a trade with the Vegas Golden Knights.

New Jersey is sending a third-round draft pick in 2020 and a second-round selection in 2021 to Vegas in exchange for Gusev. The Devils announced Monday they also have signed the restricted free agent to a two-year, $9 million contract.

The Golden Knights added Gusev in a June 2017 trade with Tampa Bay, but he chose to remain in the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia. He joined Vegas during the playoffs last season but never played for the Golden Knights.

In 62 games with SKA St. Petersburg in 2018-19, Gusev had 17 goals and a league-leading 65 assists and 82 points. The 27-year-old was a four-time KHL All-Star.

Gusev is the latest notable addition to the Devils this offseason. Last month, New Jersey drafted center Jack Hughes first overall and then traded for veteran defenseman P.K. Subban.
