Defense has been the definition of the Giants for a majority of their successful years, and Jabrill Peppers, who was born and raised in the shadows of the Meadowlands, understood that even before he put on a Big Blue jersey for the first time.
He’s glad that others on his squad know, too.
“That’s something that’s understood when you step foot in the building: how a New York Giants defense is supposed to look and play,” Peppers told WFAN’s Moose & Maggie Show on Wednesday. “We’re trying to get back to that, and making it known that this is the way the Giants play D.”
As the only defensive representative for the team on WFAN’s Giants Day (part one), Peppers was asked to expound upon that and, well, gave this bulletin board material:
“We’re going to have 11 guys out there who run around with our hair on fire, play tough, never quit, and are tenacious defenders who claw, fight, and do whatever it takes to win,” he said.
And that’s all part of buying into Joe Judge’s philosophies that he has embraced.
“I love it. I think we need that, and by him pushing us and holding us accountable, we’re pushing each other and holding ourselves accountable too, and I think we needed that,” Peppers said. “Just an extra little boost, we needed it, and we’re responding well to it. I think we’re all embracing it and going to keep going out there and getting better and better every day.”
