Sanchez Begins Rehab Assignment, Expected To Return To Yankees Friday

Gary Sanchez is very close to returning to the Yankees. 

The All-Star catcher is beginning a short rehab assignment Wednesday night with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Sanchez will play for the RailRiders again Thursday and then return to the Yankees in time for this weekend's series at Toronto, WFAN's Sweeny Murti reported.

Sanchez has been out since July 24 with a groin strain. In 77 games this season, he's hitting .229 with 24 home runs and 58 RBIs.
