Hosting two shows during WFAN’s holiday weekend anniversary celebration, Sweeny Murti welcomed numerous special guests, from ex-MLB players Bernie Williams and Randy Choate to former WFAN personalities like John Cloghessy, Bob Wischusen, and Bill Daughtry.

Perhaps the most timely of the story times with Sweeny, however, was a Saturday night segment with 1980s Yankees Dave Righetti and Butch Wynegar – a pair, you might immediately recall given the weekend, that made up the battery of Rags’ no-hitter against Boston on July 4, 1983.

A 94-degree day will sap anyone’s energy in a hurry, but 37 years after Rags and Wynegar authored a no-no on George Steinbrenner’s 53rd birthday, both men could easily recall the details of the day.

In addition, Righetti and Wynegar lament the loss of the minor-league season, which was slated to be Righetti’s first in a new role as a roving instructor in the San Francisco Giants' system and perhaps Wynegar’s last as a coach after eight years in the Yankees organization and five with the Pirates.
