Welcome to the 2020 NFL Season, and welcome back to Boomer & Gio’s NFL Picks, brought to you by OddsTrader.com!
It’s a big year for the Booms, as Gio is the defending champion and Jerry took the crown in 2018, so the Boom-pa is the only one still on the schneid – perhaps having a granddaughter named Winnie will be an omen and Mr. Esiason can live up to her name?
In case you don’t know the rules: five games are on the block each week, and Boomer, Gio, and Jerry all make their selections against the spread. So, for example, if they pick, say, Pats -3.5 against Miami, they need the Patriots to win by four or more to win the pick.
Without further ado, the first five selections for Week 1!
Dolphins @ Pats (-6.5)
Defending champ Gio’s take: “When I first saw this spread, I said, ‘this is way too much,’ but if I’m all in on Cam Newton and Bill Belichick, I have to be all in on this. I think the Pats will win by 10.”
Bucs @ Saints (-3.5)
Jerry’s take: “I think if Tom Brady looks old, it’s going to be later in the season. I think he’ll be all jazzed up, so I’ll take the Bucs with the points.”
Cowboys @ Rams (+3)
Boomer’s take: “I like the Cowboys! I think Dak Prescott is trying to prove that he deserves a new contract, and there’s no more excuses for this team. I think they have the weapons to get it done.”
Jets @ Bills (-6.5)
Gio’s take: “I really like the Bills in this one – the Bills are in that continuity situation, and I think there’s a lot of issues with the Jets. I don’t like the Jets in this game, and I don’t like them this year, period.”
Steelers @ Giants (+5.5)
Boomer’s take: “You forget that the Steelers have one of the top defenses in football. I just feel like it’s going to be a tough start for the young left tackle for the Giants. I think the Steelers will score at least 24 points in this one – give me the road favorite.”
Take a listen to their full explanations below, and tune in to Boomer & Gio on Monday and Tuesday to see how they did – or better yet, call in and give ‘em props or heat for the picks!
