Joe Judge, Giants React to Saquon Barkley Injury

Saquon Barkley’s knee injury will end his 2020 season, and puts his Giants career at a crossroads, as the team must decide whether or not to pick up his fifth-year rookie option, sign him to a longer deal, or simply move on (or wait) after year four, which will see him coming back from said injury.

It’s a tough situation for the G-Men, and it was a hot topic in every Big Blue press briefing on Monday; s always, WFAN’s Paul Dottino was listening in, and below is a selection of quotes from head coach Joe Judge and others, as well as some paraphrased thoughts from P-Dot, on the Saquon situation:

Head coach Joe Judge: “There’s definitely emotion attached to losing any player. You know how hard these guys work, how important it is to them, and how it impacts their lives. Saquon is obviously no different; he’s been voted a captain on this team and is very important to this team. He speaks for this team, and always holds the best interests of the team first. He exemplifies what it is to be a leader on and off the field for us. We’re going to miss having him on the grass, but we’re going to keep him involved as much as we can going forward.”

Head coach Joe Judge: “I won’t fall asleep on 26 – it will be a hell of a story.”

Wide receiver Golden Tate: "We’re all kind of bummed because we are all brothers and we love each other so much. It's unfortunate, but that's the nature of the game. We're going to keep chugging, working hard and find a way.”

Defensive back Jabrill Peppers: "Obviously, he's a leader on this team. I know from working out with him over the summer he was looking forward to this season after that ankle injury last year. Injuries happen, but you have to have the next man up mentality.”
