The Washington Football Team is beginning the process of reopening FedEx Field to fans, announcing on Friday plans to make roughly 3,000 tickets available for its Week 9 game against the New York Giants.

The organization says the decision was made with the state of Maryland's approval and under the careful supervision of Prince George's County.

The approx. 3,000 tickets to the Sunday, Nov. 8 game will be available to season ticket holders and will be limited to the stadium's lower level and a limited number of suites. Season ticket holders will have exclusive access to "separate digital windows" based on tenure, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27 and ending Friday, Oct. 30.

"We take our responsibility to protect our staff, players, fans, and the community seriously," said Washington Football Team President Jason Wright. "Since the beginning of the season, we worked in close coordination with Prince George's County health officials to monitor and assess the possibility of welcoming fans."

"We are thrilled to host some of our Season Ticket Members at the Giants game on November 8th and hope to welcome more fans through the FedExField gates in the near future," he said.

The organization says the decision to welcome back fans was made "after careful consideration and evaluation of the success and compliance with safety protocols at our 'friends and family' game." Several players' friends and family — most notably Alex Smith's wife and children — were in attendance at Washington's Week 5 home game against the Rams.

While no plans have been announced to open FedEx Field to fans for any other future games, the organization says it will continue to re-evaluate fan attendance for future home games "and will adjust based on the latest recommendations from health officials."

All fans attending the Nov. 8 game will be required to follow safety guildines, including wearing face coverings, maintaining proper social distancing, and using mobile ticketing and cashless payment methods. Tailgating will not be permitted.
