On Tuesday, Nov. 24, WFAN will once again participate in the Hungerthon Radiothon, partnering with WhyHunger for their 35th annual campaign.
WhyHunger is a nonprofit organization founded in 1975 by the late musician Harry Chapin and Radio DJ Bill Ayres on the fundamental belief that access to nutritious food is a human right and hunger is a solvable problem. Hungerthon, launched that year as an annual Thanksgiving radio tradition, raises critical funds to support communities across America and build awareness about hunger and its root causes.
This year, more than 54 million Americans, including over 18 million children, will struggle with hunger due to the impact of COVID-19. With skyrocketing unemployment and food banks pushed to their limits, help is needed now more than ever.
All day on Nov. 24, WFAN hosts will remind and implore you to please give in any way you can, and check out the items we have up for auction. You can make donations any time at hungerthon.org or by calling 1-800-5-HUNGRY (1-800-548-6479), and through Nov. 24, you can bid on our auction items – including signed baseballs, guitars, and more – at Hungerthon.org/WFAN.
Last year, WhyHunger’s Hungerthon raised over $1 million to fuel real solutions to hunger across America. This year, WhyHunger’s Find Food service has been a crucial lifeline in the face of the pandemic, bringing hope and nutritious food to more than 800,000 people across the country – but now more than ever, we need you to join the movement to strike at the root of hunger and tackle urgent human needs!
In the face of crisis, standing together creates hope. Please join WFAN in giving back, and help us help others during Hungerthon!
