Shawn Clark Joins Kyle Bailey to Preview His 1st Year as App State's Head Coach

By Sports Radio WFNZ

The new head coach of the Appalachian State Mountaineers football team joined Kyle Bailey today on the Clubhouse as Shawn started out by sharing his excitement for App State football saying "We already have a great QB in Zac Thomas and a Charlotte native in Corey Sutton."

Shawn discussed how he is returning a lot of veterans on defense stating "We have a senior-heavy with a bunch of guys who know how to win, and we have our fingers crossed that we are able to play football in 2020."

Despite already losing the game against Wisconsin this year, Clark seems confident that App will still play the Wake Forest Demon Decons this fall telling us "I'm very optimistic that we will play this game, but at the same time nothing ever shocks you anymore and everything is fluid with new updates minute by minute."

Shawn also told Kyle that he and his team are just wanting to play football and make the Mountaineer fans happy and proud this year.

"You always have a great master plan when you become a head coach, but now you have to throw it out the window with everything going on right now."

But Coach Clark reiterates that he is still excited to be the head coach at App State and is ready for the season to get started.
