How the Hornets draft pick will most likely come down to 5 players

The Beat Reporter for the Charlotte Observer Rick Bonnell, who covers the Charlotte Hornets joined The Clubhouse today to discuss the latest rumors surrounding the Hornets and the 3rd pick of the NBA Draft.

Rick started the interview by saying that discussing the salary cap numbers and how they impact the Hornets as Rick states that it is not reflecting revenue like year's past. Rick points out that the Hornets will be apart of 6 teams with significant cap space this offseason, but Rick also pointed out that luxury tax bills will be reduced if basketball related income is less than last season as it hurts the Hornets leverage in trade discussions and it means less revenue sharing for Charlotte.

When it came to the draft for the Hornets Rick feels like there is a 90% chance that the Hornets first round pick comes from a pool of 5 people between James Wiseman, Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, Onyeka Okongwu, and Deni Avdija.

Rick also told Kyle that if the Hornets were to trade up the cost to trade up would not be as substantial as it would be in a normal draft year.
