The Head Football Coach of the Charlotte 49ers joined Kyle Bailey on the Clubhouse to recap the team's 35-20 loss to the Appalachian State Mountaineers, and how they must shake off the defeat quickly to get ready for the Tar Heels.
When it came to last Saturday's loss up in Boone Will Healy told Kyle:
"We're making strides, but we are not playing consistently enough to win a big game like that against a team that believes when they step on the field they will win every game they play. I thought we improved a lot on special teams and had glimpses on both offense and defense, but I don't think we played nearly as good on offense and defense to win the game."
Will also told Kyle that he is proud of the team's fight, but he is tired of just putting up a fight against the Mountaineers, and Will thinks this won't be a rivalry game until the 49ers beat App State.
When it came to the struggles of QB Chris Reynolds on Saturday Will told Kyle that he got banged up on the first play of the game and didn't tell anyone as Will only found out yesterday. Will said they will evaluate his QB's health to make sure he will be ready to go against the Tar Heels this Saturday.
Before the end of the interview Kyle wanted to get Coach Healy's thoughts on the Tar Heels as the 49ers will travel up to Chapel Hill this Saturday as Will explained to Kyle he is telling the guys to be more positive heading into this weekend and focus on their stuff instead of focusing on the large amount of hype that Mack Brown's squad is getting.
