Baseball really dropped the ball on this one.

Rawlings decided to hold its Gold Glove Award show on ESPN Tuesday night – which happened to also be Election Day.

With this year’s presidential race contentious and resulting in historic voting numbers, many were not thrilled with Rawlings promoting and holding the awards on a night where sports takes a back seat.

Fans took to Twitter to roast the sport for continually failing to grasp the best way to promote it.

Editor's Note: A previous version of the article cited MLB having a role in the announcement. That is incorrect. Rawlings decides when to roll out the award.
