In 2016, due to injuries to other linemen, Williams took over the team’s starting right tackle job a little less than midway through the season. He then started at right tackle for all 16 games in 2017, earning Second-Team All-Pro honors that season.
Williams tore his right MCL and dislocated his kneecap during training camp in 2018, but came back to start in the regular season opener. He injured his right knee again late in that game and was placed on injured reserve the following week, missing the rest of the season.
Last offseason, many believed the Bills would pursue Williams after his contract had expired and he became an unrestricted free agent, but he re-signed with Panthers for a one year, $7 million contract. He went on to play in all 16 games, but moved around to different spots on the offensive line, starting four games at left tackle, three at right guard, and five at left guard.
