There will be no football, soccer, volleyball, or any fall sports at the University at Buffalo this season, as well as the rest of the Mid-American Conference.

The MAC officially announced on Saturday the postponement of the 2020 fall sports season due to concerns over COVID-19. However, the MAC does intend to try and play its 2020 fall sports season in the spring.

"This has not been an easy decision, but for the Mid-American Conference, it’s the right decision," said MAC commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher on Saturday. "It is simply a miserable decision."

The MAC becomes the first FBS conference to postpone its fall football season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

A number of conferences and programs in the FCS have already canceled or postponed their football seasons this year due to continued concerns over COVID-19. Now with the MAC being the first FBS conference to postpone its season, it may be only a matter of time before other FBS conferences follow the MAC's lead.
