The Buffalo Bills are one win away from clinching their second playoff berth in three seasons, but only their second since 1999.

A win in any of their final three games and they’re in. No help needed elsewhere.

However, Sean McDermott is making sure his team continues to stay focused as they prepare for the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday night.

“One week at a time,” the Bills head coach said when asked what the message is to his team now that they know there’s a clear path to the playoffs. “Respect the opponent. Respect our preparation. Respect the process as we prepare and get some rest today for them after they left this afternoon. Get themselves ready to go. This is a good football team we're going to face. A team that's had a lot of success if you study the tradition of the NFL and the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's going to be a good week in preparation for us and we're looking forward to it.”

The Bills could have clinched their spot in the AFC playoffs this past Sunday with a win, thanks to the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Oakland Raiders all losing, but they fell 24-17 to the Baltimore Ravens. That dropped McDermott’s team to 9-4 on the season.

The Steelers will enter the game at 8-5, which means that if they beat the Bills, they’ll pass Buffalo for the No. 5 seed in the AFC.

If that were to happen, it would be the first time this season the Bills lost two games in a row. So far, they’ve bounced back with wins after their other three losses.

“I think its leadership, player-driven leadership in particular, and also the resiliency of our football team,” McDermott said when speaking at his weekly Monday press conference. “I thought that was on display yesterday as well as it's been most of most of the season to be honest with you. These guys they play hard. They play four quarters. Every week they give you their best effort and I'm extremely proud of them for that, but I just go back to the leadership, player driven wise and the resiliency of our group.”
