Poyer entered the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles as a seventh round selection from Oregon State in the 2013 NFL Draft. Poyer only played in three games with the Eagles before spending parts of four seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Poyer started a total of 10 games before becoming a full-time starter in Buffalo.
Poyer was scheduled to become a free agent after the upcoming season. His $10 million per-year cap hit is a big pay raise from the roughly $3 million he was scheduled to make this year
