Report: 49ers 'most likely' to play home games in Arizona

The Bills are scheduled to play the 49ers on Monday Night Football in Week 13

It appears as if the San Francisco 49ers may have a new home for the rest of the season.

Due to updated COVID-19 restrictions in Santa Clara County, which banned all contact sports and mandated a 14-day quarantine for anyone traveling from 150 miles away, the 49ers are left looking for a place to play their home games during the final month of the season.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Arizona remains the most likely option.

The two teams, who do not have a home game on the same day, and the NFC West rivals are reportedly willing to accommodate the 49ers.

Nothing is yet set in stone, with officials from the team and NFL still working on a plan. Another option would be for the 49ers to play at a stadium in Texas.

There is also the question of what the 49ers would be able to do for practice. They could stay in a hotel in Arizona for a month and practice there in, what would be, a pseudo bubble, or they could practice outside the 150-mile zone in California, which would allow players to remain with family, and travel to Arizona for home games.

The 49ers are playing the Rams in Los Angeles on Sunday. A decision is expected soon.

Their next home game is scheduled for Week 13 against the Buffalo Bills on Monday, Dec. 7 at 8:15 p.m. EST.
