Bills get several key players back at practice on Tuesday

John Brown, Tyler Kroft, and Quinton Jefferson among those who returned to the field

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) - One day after getting wide receiver Stefon Diggs back at practice, the Buffalo Bills saw a few other players return to the field after missing at least one session.

Wide receiver John Brown and defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson were both back after being out with illnesses on Monday. Guard Quinton Spain and tight end Tyler Kroft, who both missed practices due to foot injuries, also returned to the field.

However, defensive lineman Vernon Butler was still a no-show as he deals with a hamstring injury, as was offensive lineman Victor Salako, who is dealing with a back issue.

Running back Taiwan Jones (knee), cornerback Josh Norman (hamstring), running back Christian Wade (quad), and fullback Patrick DiMarco (neck) also continued to be out.

Tight end Jason Croom did not practice, but was on the sidelines watching.

Smith not present yet:

On Monday, the Bills traded a 2023 draft pick to the Carolina Panthers for linebacker/special teamer Andre Smith.  But due to COVID-19 protocols, Smith wasn’t able to join his teammates on the field yet.

New number and position for Gilliam:

Undrafted free agent Reggie Gilliam was originally listed as a fullback when he was signed by the club after the 2020 draft. However, this week his number changed from 41 to 86 and he’s now listed as a tight end on the team’s official roster. Gilliam played fullback, tight end, and running back at Toledo, and was also a special teams standout.

Diggs vs. White:

Head coach Sean McDermott often says “irons sharpens iron.” On Tuesday, we got a glimpse of that happening when All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White matched up one-on-one against wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who beat White deep thanks to an excellent pass from quarterback Josh Allen:
