Klay Thompson may not have played this season, but he is definitely the MVP for one family.

On Monday, Thompson spent 25 minutes on a video call with Deborah Wright – a 62-year-old Warriors fan who has metastatic breast cancer and was given two to six weeks to live. Her only wish was to meet her favorite player: Klay Thompson.

KTVU news anchor Frank Somerville helped get Wright to go viral when he shared a Facebook message from Deborah’s husband, Randall.

“My bride loves Klay Thompson of the Warriors. I was wondering if at all possible, if maybe he could visit her. Or, even FaceTime her (or Zoom or whatever),” he wrote. “I ask for nothing else…no gifts, money, or anything…just for the possibility of a visit from Mr. Thompson.”

The message reached Golden State Warriors vice president of communications, Raymond Ridder, who was able to ask Thompson to make this fan’s wish come true.

Thompson spoke to Wright about all sorts of things, from family, pets and the Warriors, with Thompson even introducing her to his dog, Rocco.

“He made me feel like we’ve been friends forever,” Wright told The Mercury News, per SFGate. “It was just a down-to-earth conversation.”
