Bears receiver Allen Robinson’s removal of photos and references to the team on his social media accounts may only be the tip of the iceberg of the apparent tension he has with the organization about his lack of a contract extension.

Robinson has asked for a trade, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday afternoon. Robinson is in the final season of a three-year, $42-million contract that he signed in March 2018. The Bears have often signed key players to long-term extensions in training camp or just before the regular-season opener, but that didn't happen with Robinson, who had 98 receptions for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

On Tuesday morning, news surfaced that Robinson had recently removed all photos with the Bears from his Instagram account and stripped a banner photo from his Twitter profile with an illustration of him in a Bears uniform and replaced it with his own personal logo.

Several of Robinson’s teammates have been expressing support for him to receive a contract extension, including running back Tarik Cohen.
