For the first time, and possibly the only time, this season, the Jets are the odds-on favorites!
It’s not in a good way, though: after Week 1, Jets head coach Adam Gase is now the favorite to be the first head coach to be fired – excuse us, “permanently leave his post” – per Bovada. Gase is +325 to be the first to have his hot seat burn his hiney, with Lions head coach Matt Patricia right behind at +350.
It’s the same story on Betonline.ag, where Gase is a 3/1 favorite to be the first on the unemployment line, just ahead of Atlanta’s Dan Quinn (4/1) and Patricia (5/1).
Of course, Gase and his Jets got off to a 1-7 start last year, but finished 6-2 to bring optimism to Gang Green going into 2020 – where they looked anything but optimistic in a Week 1 loss.
It doesn’t help that even in a disputed Sunday night loss, new Cowboys boss Mike McCarthy, the guy most Jets fans seemed to want to come to Gang Green in the first place, is still at +5000, the same range as such untouchables as Bill Belichick, Pete Carroll, and Andy Reid.
Brand-new Big Blue boss Joe Judge, in case you were wondering, is tied for 13th on Bovada with Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury (+4000), and the biggest “longshot” is Niners coach Kyle Shanahan at +10000.
