The White Sox will play the Cardinals in the "Field of Dreams" game in Dyersville, Iowa on Aug. 13, a source said Wednesday.
The White Sox were originally scheduled to face the Yankees, but because of the revamped MLB schedule after the coronavirus pandemic delayed the start of the season, the Cardinals will instead make the trip.
While MLB is moving forward with its plan to hold the unique event, it will still be dependent on health clearance amid the coronavirus.
"To date, there has been no change in the status of the event, and we hope to have the option to play," MLB said Tuesday. "Construction is continuing and we are following all CDC and state protocols regarding recommended safety practices, including social distancing, washing hands and temperature checks before arriving to the site. Safeguarding public health is our top priority. We are monitoring ongoing events and plan to remain as flexible as these circumstances demand."
Dyersville is a town of about 4,000 in eastern Iowa in which the famed Field of Dreams was built for the 1989 movie of the same name.
