Black Friday: Stores announce Thanksgiving closures and sales

Throughout the country, many big retailers are going about Black Friday a little differently this year due to the pandemic.

If you tend to shop on Black Friday, you are probably used to seeing significant crowds everywhere, trying to get the best sale for the holiday season.

Several major businesses across the country are closing their doors on Thanksgiving for the first time in several years, Good Morning America reports.

Target, Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and more have announced plans to close its doors on Thanksgiving. However, retailers are giving an option for shoppers an early start to holiday sales online.

While the coronavirus pandemic still affects the nation, more stores are closing for the holiday, which businesses will have a more significant focus on digital sales.

“This year, we expect retailers to get creative and host online doorbusters, potentially with flash sales and online queues to try and mimic the in-store experience,” RetailMeNot shopping and trends expert Sara Skirboll said.

Follow these tips to shop safely on Black Friday:

Skirboll provided the following tips to ensure your safety during this month's holiday shopping season.
