The start of the work week felt especially heavy on Monday after news of the death of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant broke on Sunday.
Poet shared how the news personally affected her.
"I called my therapist last night," she said. "It was overwhelming.I mourn the loss of my cousin every year the day before my birthday and this was most certainly not the news I wanted to wake up to the day after. And then I just got to thinking that I was probably not the only person triggered."
For those who also may be struggling to cope with the death of Kobe Bryant, she provided the National Lifeline Number, which is (800) 273-8255.
After dialing the number, callers are connected with a professional who is willing to listen and provide necessary assistance.
"I want to make sure you know that we got you," Poet said. "It takes a village and we are our brothers and sisters' keepers."
