Black history icons Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tumban will become immortalized with new bronze statues in Maryland's State House.

The statues are being placed to recognize the immense contributions that both figures brought to the state and the U. S.

Statues will be unveiled Monday, and will be open for public viewing on Saturday, February 15.

A full day of events including activities for children, refreshments, lectures and presentations will happen from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
