Travis Scott has some big plans in store for us, but his first plan of action, a new single, “The Plan,” set to drop this Friday.
The single will appear on the soundtrack for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming action film Tenet, which stars Robert Pattinson, John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki, and others.
Travis took to Twitter to hype up the track, writing, “FLAME x CHRIS NOLAN COOK UP THE PLAN FRIDAY,” above an ominous image of Washington floating in red space accompanied by the title of the film.
Scott spoke about his involvement in the film to GQ, which came about after accidentally playing "The Plan" for Nolan, who describes the track as a "brain-liquefying trip through time and space.” Adding that Scott’s voice “became the final piece of a yearlong puzzle… His insights into the musical and narrative mechanism [composer] Ludwig Göransson and I were building were immediate, insightful, and profound.”
Well dang, them's some nice words. Get it Trav! And as if we weren’t already hype to hear the track, and now see the film, Scott’s description is just really sending us. "I can't even explain it,” Scott said, “You literally just have to watch it. It's very fire.” Nice and methodically vague, just the way we like it. All jokes aside, if you know Travis Scott, you know his use of “fire” is specifically reserved to describe the best of the best, and more literally with pyrotechnics on stage.
Travis also spilled about that joint album with Kid Cudi that’s in the works. Saying fans can expect, you guessed it, “some fireness!” Unfortunately that’s about all we got from Scott regarding the duo’s upcoming project. The two gave us a little sneak peek of what they can do as a team with the release of “The Scotts” back in April. Based on that little taste, were excited to see what else they’ve cooked up for us.
