Dwayne Johnson jokingly refuses to give up ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ title to Michael B. Jordan

Dwayne Johnson, otherwise known as “The Rock,” jokingly said that he would not give up his “Sexiest Man Alive” title to the new winner Michael B. Jordan.

Johnson was awarded “People’s 2016 Sexiest Man Alive” and was featured in this year’s issue, People reports.

The “Jumanji” actor posted on Instagram and joked that he doesn’t “concede” his title to Jordan, who was recognized in 2020.

“Fun talkin’ about ‘living each day to the fullest’ in @people’s SEXIEST MAN ALIVE issue,” Johnson wrote. “Congrats to my brother @michaelbjordan on the new sexy crown 👊🏾 I CONCEDE NOTHING 👑😉 #sma #2020.”

In this year’s issue, Johnson shared personal details about his family life with his wife Lauren Hashian, and their two daughters, Jasmine, 4, and Tia, 2.

“My favorite time of the day is before the sun rises and our babies are still sleeping,” he said. “I can get great, productive work done in my office, and of course I love when they call for me on the baby monitors — then it’s breakfast time!”

“That’s when the babies are asleep and it’s ‘Netflix and chill’ time with me and Lauren and a glass of Teremana,” he added, with a nod to his tequila brand. “I’ll say no more before I get in trouble.”

Last week, People announced Michael B. Jordan, the “Black Panther” star, won this year’s award.

“My mom and dad sacrificed so much to provide for my sister, brother and me,” he tells People Magazine. “I’m just grateful. Honestly it’s like they all have had such an impact on me and who I am and how I approach each day. Without that, a lot of things about me just wouldn’t be the same. So it all comes back to that foundation. I’m really thankful for that.”

Jordan shared that honor is fantastic, even if friends and family joked that it would always be out of reach.

“It’s a cool feeling,” he said. “You know, everybody always made that joke, like, ‘Mike, this is the one thing you’re probably not going to get.’ But it’s a good club to be a part of.”

At a young age, the 33-year-old actor began his career modeling. Since starting in the business, Jordan rose to significant success in both TV and film.

Many people know the actor from Marvel Comics’ major hit, “Black Panther.” Jordan played supervillain Erik Killmonger alongside the late Chadwick Boseman.

Jordan has been very involved in fighting for social justice and has been a spokesperson in the Black Lives Matter movement over the past year.
