The Miami Hurricanes have had a very successful bounce-back season this year with just one loss coming against Clemson.  While it seems unlikely that Miami will have a shot to get into the ACC title game, Miami can still end up in a New Years Six Bowl.  Brett McMurphy joined The Joe Rose Show Wednesday morning and had this to say about the Canes chances of reaching one of these top-tier bowl games.

McMurphy said, “Just an incredible year…I’ve been very impressed with what Miami has done…it’s pretty clear cut if Miami wins out they are in a New Years Six game.  If on selection Sunday Miami has only one loss and Clemson and Notre Dame are both in the playoff then Miami is locked into the Orange Bowl, if only one gets into the playoff Miami would either go to the Fiesta or the Cotton Bowl.”

One thing that may bother Canes fans, McMurphy said, “With Notre Dame being an ACC member this year it actually hurts Miami’s chance to go to the Orange Bowl because in pre-Covid years if this was going on and ND didn’t make the playoff it would be a Miami Notre Dame Orange Bowl but now with them being an ACC member they would take the Orange Bowl slot.

Brett did finish by saying, “It’s been a remarkable year, in a year that sucks overall Miami is one of the few good stories in college football this year.”

Miami will take on Duke this Saturday night with kickoff at 8:00 PM.
