Jamal Adams torches Adam Gase: Not a leader

Adam Gase is under fire, once again, in New York.

Team captain Jamal Adams, who is trying to get traded out of New York, had some scathing criticism of the former Dolphins coach.  Manish Mehta from the New York Daily News had an exclusive talk with Adams, and Manish joined the Joe Rose Show to discuss the details.

The story paints a picture of dysfunction inside the organization.  Mehta offered his thoughts on the conversation.

“It was particularly damming what he said about Adam Gase," Mehta said.  "Everybody knew about some of the players in Miami not being particularly pleased with Gase by the end of his three-year run with the Dolphins.  When your best player, one of your team captains... when he comes out and he says explicitly that he does not feel that Adam Gase is the right leader for this organization to reach the mountaintop, that to me is a stinging indictment on Gase. It's a fair assumption that he is not the only person who feels this way. The prevailing sentiment in that organization is that Gase is not a leader, he is not a leader in any way.”

As far as trading Adams goes, Mehta thinks it will be tough.

“I don’t know if a team is going to pony up enough for what it will take to get the Jets best player,” Mehta said. "The drama in New York will be an interesting storyline to follow as training camp begins to open and with the season right around the corner.  Adam Gase needs to find a way to win back his locker room or he may not last long in New York either.
