The University of Miami came up well short in their primetime showdown with Clemson this past Saturday night dropping by a final of 42-17. Miami was outgained 550-210 in total yards, both the offense and the defense struggled for the Canes but a lot of the credit goes to Clemson. Coach Manny Diaz joined The Joe Rose Show for his weekly segment and he wants this game to serve as a lesson for his team.
Diaz said of the struggles, “It is a harsh lesson for us and obviously one we needed to learn, Quincy Roche was probably off-side by three or four inches but that’s it, those are the inches that separate the two teams, I think the effort was good, the attitude was good and I think that’s been a good thing all year. There’s a disappointment but also what is encouraging is now they really see where the line is drawn between what it takes to perform against a team like Clemson and the things we did to hurt ourselves ultimately gave us no chance.”
Miami will have a huge bounce-back opportunity next Saturday when they host Pitt. Saturday’s game kicks at noon and can be heard right here on WQAM.
