Mailbox Thefts Reported In Wethersfield

(Wethersfield, Conn./WTIC) - Authorities are investigating in Wethersfield after they say the street side mailboxes at the Beaver Road post office in town had been broken into.

Officers were dispatched around 9:30.

Postal officials say someone broke into two boxes on Wednesday and stole a "large amount of mail".

Police say they think the break-ins occurred sometime after 5:00 p.m., the last time mail would have been collected, and before 9:00 this morning.

Investigators are urging anyone who used the box to check with the intended recipient and notify them of the thefts and contact the US Postal Inspection Service in Wallingford.

Police and the Postal Inspection Service are investigating.
