After almost fifty years in Tolland, the Dari Farms frozen foods distribution center will shut down at the end of next week. Almost 100 jobs will be lost.
Dari Farms had been owned by the locally-based Silva family until August of last year, when it was bought out by Diversis Capital, LLC of Los Angeles.
A notice filed to the Connecticut Department of Labor says that ninety-one workers will be laid off in Tolland, plus another six in Milford.
When contacted by WTIC, Diversis Capital had no comment, and referred us to the Dari Farms office in Tolland. Several messages have not been returned.
Tolland Town Manager Michael Rosen tells WTIC that details from the company are hard to come by, including plans for the Gerber Drive property. Rosen writes, "we are saddened at the loss of a long-term Tolland business and the loss of 91 jobs."
