(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - The state is now allowing indoor visitations at longterm care facilities, provided they meet federal criteria.
Visits were banned for months following the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in Connecticut.
Acting state Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Deidre Gifford signed a measure rescinding the previous orders.
Among the conditions the facilities must meet: that there are no onset of Covid-19 cases over a 14 day period.
Also, visitors will be screened, must follow hand hygiene recommendations, where personal protection equipment where applicable, and maintain social distancing requirements.
Gifford is requesting nursing homes to work with family members to arrange the most appropriate visit for each residents needs.
