(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - Some changes are in store for this year's Eversource Hartford Marathon.
The COVID-19 pandemic has led organizers to hold a virtual event this year.
CEO and Race Director Beth Shluger says the current times would make it near impossible to hold a race with thousands of runners and tens of thousands of spectators.
Instead, Shluger says the event is being staged as a communitywide fundraiser.
Runners and non-runners are invited to participate between October 8 and October 11.
Registration is $25.
Particpants can choose from the standard marathon and half-marathon, as well as a 10K, 5K and three multi-distance challenges.
Proceeds from registration fees and those who choose to donate additional funds will go to the HMS GIVES initiative.
