SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - South Windsor police have arrested two men on trespassing charges for allegedly trying to remove sand from the local skate park, placed there because too many people were gathering amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Police stopped a vehicle leaving the area of the park on Nevers Road Thursday afternoon, containing Shane McCarthy, 23, of South Windsor and Stephen Misiura, 24, of Tolland, said police.

Both men confirmed they were trying to remove the sand from the skate park, so that they could use it, said police. The two were issued simple trespass infractions.
