STORRS, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ The University of Connecticut extends its work-from-home plans for certain employees.
In an email statement to staff, UConn officials say that, with supervisor approval, employees should plan to continue working remotely through the spring 2021 semester.
Officials arrived at the decision based on the prevalence of the coronavirus in Connecticut (which has risen in recent weeks), the availability of a vaccine, and the potential for further COVID-19 spread.
The University tells faculty that teaching and research activities will largely determine on-campus presence.
Repeated guidance includes wearing a mask in common and public areas, maintaining social distance, and working remotely when tasks do not require a physical presence on campus.
UConn's Office of Human Resources will be issuing information about a spring semester attendance registry, which requires COVID-19 testing for campus access.
The statement says "it is clear that we will not be able to return to normal as a workplace until circumstances and public health guidance change to a level where the University believes that we can return to working on-site on a large scale."
