Detroit Court Offers Amnesty Program June 8-July 10

By WWJ Newsradio 950

(WWJ) A break is coming for some people who have to pay fees related to tickets or misdemeanor cases in Detroit.

The 36th District Court has an amnesty program from Monday, June 8th, through July 10th.

That means fees will be waived for civil infractions and adjudicated misdemeanors. What are those fees? There's a $40 fine for overdue traffic infractions, including driving with expired plates, no proof of insurance and speeding tickets. With that fee, fines go as high as $170 for improper turn and $335 for failure to stop for a school bus.

Note that the Driver's License Reinstatement Fee of $45 is NOT included in the program.

Due to the coronavirus, there will be no in-person payments.  Those wanting to take advantage of the amnesty program can pay on the 36th District Court website HERE at a DivDat kiosk.
