(WWJ) St. Clair Shore crews are cleaning up and investigating the causes of what witnesses describe as massive fires following an explosion at a Nautical Mile Marina.
Officials say at about 8:30 p.m.. Tuesday at Michigan Harbor on Jefferson between 9 and 10 Mile Roads, boaters stopped to pump some gas and when they took off the boat blew up.
The fire latched onto another boat at the end of the resident's dock, which reportedly belongs to Tigers great Kirk Gibson. Gibson was not there at the time; The extent of damage to his boat is unknown.
Witnesses say they heard a loud explosion. Two men reportedly jumped off a boat that was on fire and swam from the flames.
Officials said there were no apparent injuries.
"We don't know if he went for gas, didn't have a gas blower on and boom! Caught another boat on fire." one woman told WWJ's Mike Campbell.
