(WWJ) Two local General Motors engineers were arrested last week for street racing a pair of Corvette Stingrays in Kentucky.

It happened on Wednesday in Bowling Green, near the assembly plant which builds the vehicles. 27-year-old Alexander Thim from West Bloomfield, and 30-year-old Mark Derkatz from Windsor, were clocked going over 100 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone.

The two were driving 2020 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingrays. GM says the company is investigating the incident.

Here's a look at the vehicle in question.

Notably, it was chosen on Monday as the North American Car Of The Year.
