DETROIT (WWJ) - One person has died in a one-car crash on the Lodge Freeway, according to Michigan State Police.

MSP troopers responded to the scene at around 5:15 p.m. Friday, on the southbound Lodge at Wyoming, on Detroit west side. There they found a driver slumped over the center console of his vehicle and without a pulse, police said.

Troopers tried to pull the 56-year-old man from the car, police said but the lower half of his body was crushed

CPR was administered on scene. The driver was then taken by EMS to Henry Ford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the man's name will be withheld until after his family is notified. No one else was injured.

Further details, including what led to the crash, are still unknown.

It is believed that alcohol may have been a factor, police said, as the investigation continues.
