Farmington Hills Hiring Police Officers, Police Service Aides

(WWJ) Have you ever considered a career as a cop? The Farmington Hills Police Department is hiring. 

The city has announced it will hold a special recruitment event at noon this Sunday, January 5, as it seeks "outstanding candidates" for the positions of Police Officer and Police Service Aide.

The Farmington Hills Police Department is the 11th largest municipal Police Department in Michigan.  It is currently staffed with 107 sworn officers and supported by an additional 37 full-time employees.  The Department’s Communications Section is the largest city-operated Dispatch Center in Oakland County, taking in over 100 calls to 9-1-1 daily and dispatching more than 45,000 calls for service annually.  

The average salary in the Police Department is between $51,000 and $74,000 per year with a defined benefit pension, the city says. 

The Police Department has a Patrol Division staffed by over 60 uniformed officers, and an Investigative Division that maintains two squads of detectives.  Specialized assignments include the Directed Patrol Unit, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) based in Detroit, South Oakland Narcotics Intelligence Consortium (SONIC), Auto Theft Unit, Narcotic Enforcement Team (NET), Canine Unit, Honor Guard, Traffic Unit, Evidence Technician Unit, Field Training Unit, Training Unit, Small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) Drone Unit and more.

Farmington Hills is the 14th largest city in the State of Michigan and the second largest city in Oakland County, boasting a diverse population of over 80,000 residents and spanning almost 34 square miles.  

"The city has earned the reputation of being a well-run, desirable place to live and work with award-winning Police, Fire, recreation programs, and public services," the city said, in a release.
