(WWJ) Two people are dead following a crash on M-15, Ortonville Road, in northern Oakland County's Brandon Township.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, it happened just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, shutting down the roadway north of Oak Hill Road for hours for the investigation.
Investigators said a 52-year-old Brandon Township man was driving a 2014 Chevy Equinox northbound on South Ortonville Rd. when he drove left of the center yellow dividing line, going partially into the southbound lane. At the same time, officials say a 71-year-old Brandon Township man was driving a 2009 Ford F-150 southbound on Ortonville — and the two vehicles colided head-on.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Both were wearing their seatbelts, investigators said, and there were no passengers in either vehicle.
The sheriff's office said it's still unclear why the Chevy driver veered over the line into uncoming traffic, and that it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor.
The crash remains under investigation. No name have been released.
