Oakland County Nurse Headed To Work Gets Hero's Sendoff [VIDEO]

(WWJ) A special sendoff for a nurse treating COVID-19 patients in Oakland County.

Peter Ginopolis said that more than 30 people were there to show his wife their support. "Thank you for making her tough day easier! Best neighbors and friends ever!!!!!!!!" he wrote on Facebook.

Ginopolis is just one of many health care workers getting the hero treatment amid the COVID-19 crisis.

People across metro Detroit are tying white ribbons on trees outside their homes to show support for first responders and medical professionals working round the clock, risking their lives to fight the battle against coronavirus

Meanwhile, as we could use a lot more help, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is encouraging nurses and doctors to bring their skills to Michigan. “I am grateful for the health care professionals who are on the front lines of this pandemic every single day, but these brave men and women can’t do it alone,” Whitmer said. “That’s why we are asking nurses, doctors, and qualified health care professionals across the country to bring their expertise to our state to combat this virus.
