(WWJ) A Washtenaw County Sheriff's Deputy was shot this afternoon.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Michael Cohen reported it all started when a neighbor was firing off shots at another neighbor. The Washtenaw County Sheriff's office had deputies on the scene a little after 2 p.m.

And that's when the deputy was shot.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside a Superior Township home and has been inside since. Residents in the area of North Prospect Road, Geddes Road, and East Clark Road are being told to stay indoors right now.

The deputy is in stable condition.

Members of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Ann Arbor Police Department and Washtenaw County Metro SWAT Team are currently at the scene as is a crisis negotiation team.

Unknown is whether anyone else is inside with the shooter.

This comes amid violence targeting police officers, including a police captain who was killed by a looter in St. Louis and a pair of officers in California who were shot in an ambush this week.
