(WWJ) The St Clair County Sheriff Office is investigating a Sunday evening crash involving three vehicles, killing a young man and leaving two other people hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
At happened at around 6:40 p.m. on Feb. 21, in the 6500 block of Lakeshore Rd. in Burtchville Township, north of Port Huron.
A preliminary investigation found that a 1997 Ford F-150 was headed northbound and attempted to pass another pickup truck pulling a trailer in a no passing zone. That's when the F-150 collided head-on with a southbound 2014 Lincoln, the sheriff's office said. The collision then caused a secondary cash with the northbound pickup pulling the trailer.
The driver of the F-150, a 19-year-old Croswell man, and his passenger, an 18-year-old Croswell woman, were both taken to a local hospital where the young man died.
The driver of the Lincoln, a 39 yea-old Port Huron woman was also rushed to a local hospitals where sheriff's officials said she was being treated for serious injuries. The woman's passenger, an 11-year-old child, received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The driver and passenger of the other pickup truck involved received minor injuries as well and were also treated at the scene, officials said.
Lakeshore Road was shut down for several hours for the investigation, but reopened late Sunday night.
The St. Clair County Accident Investigation Team is continuing the investigation.
No names have been released.
