Man stabbed by suspect who asked to use his phone in Detroit: police

(WWJ) Police are on the hunt for a knife-wielding man who left his victim in critical condition in Detroit.

According to investigators, a 49-year-old man was walking in the 18900 block of Greenfield, near 7 Mile Rd., at around 11:15 p.m. Monday when he was approached by a stranger to asked to use his cell phone.

When the man refused, the suspect stabbed him then ran away on foot, police said.

The victim was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he's being treated for critical injuries.

On Tuesday, police were still searching for the suspect, described as a Black male, 35 to 40 years old, with a dark complexion and a full beard.
