(WWJ) A shooting at an apartment complex in Clinton Township has claimed two women’s lives, ahead of a police chase.

Police say the suspects killed the women at Knottingham Apartments on Gratiot near Metro Parkway Friday.

A child was present at the scene. He or she was not hurt.

The suspected shooters, driving a blue Dodge Hellcat, lead the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department on a chase through Eastpointe and Warren.

Around 7 p.m., a Michigan State Police trooper joined the chase on WB I-94 near Masonic until the suspects crashed into a metal electrical pole on 8 Mile east of Gratiot.

The suspects were transferred to a nearby hospital where they are being treated for broken bones and a previous gunshot wound. No troopers were hurt in the chase.

A motive for the shooting is unknown. It is unclear how, or if, the suspect or suspects knew the victims. No other details of the victims' identities have been revealed.
