Around 12:45 a.m. on Beau Drive in Franklinton flames erupted in a mobile home and badly damaged the structure, then the real magnitude of this fire became known. A 6-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl were killed in the blaze, three other kids, a 3-old-boy, a 4-year-old girl, and a 6-year-old girl suffered injuries.
They were flown to a burn unit in Baton Rouge.
''Truly a very sad situation, I mean the community is hearing about this and we're getting a lot phone calls and inquiries,'' said State Fire Marshall Butch.
Browning says two adults managed to make it out okay and then they tried to save the kids along with fire fighters.
''The adults participated in rescuing the children that were there, we have a host of people working on witness statements,'' said Browning.
As inspectors try to reconstruct the scene, people in the community are reaching out to help.
