Arrest made in chase which resulted in injury of State Troopers

As a Louisiana State Trooper continues to languish in critical condition after being rundown by a Hammond Police cruiser an arrest of one of two suspects in the originating case has taken place. 

The incident began after 2am Wednesday near Wardline and Kate Street in Hammond. 

State Police responded to the scene to assist in a police chase.

An attempt to stop the suspect vehicle, a gray SUV, saw troopers deploying a spike strip across Kate Road to blow out the tires of the suspect car. 

The SUV ended up crashing but the suspects got away. 

Unfortunately, both troopers was struck by a pursuing Hammond Police Officer. 

According to WWL-TV, the two officers were taken to North Oaks Medical Center.

One trooper was treated and released, but the other is in critical condition with undisclosed injuries. 

Later in the day, both suspects were identified, Hammond Police arrested 26-year-old Taylor Cox  on charges related to the chase. Police are still looking for 18-year-old Nathan Anding.

Hammond cops says the pair were seen throwing things out of the SUV during the chase. 

Hammond PD is asking for anyone with information about the case to come forward.
